- Abstract:
Last December, David Cole, a retired Army brigadier general and now a senior vice president at America Online (AOL), was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Cole, who lives in Oakton, Virginia, adds, "I wasn't surprised. My mother had type 2 and I had some of the classic symptoms!" Cole's first priority was to get his doctor's approval for a walking program. And he has walked at least 30 minutes a day, every day, since then. A few months ago, Cole added upper body exercises when his daughter, a certified physical trainer, bought him a rowing machine. "I pull those large stretchy rubber hands, too," he adds.
