- Abstract:
This article reports that patients who split a ten-milligram tablet of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, by the McNeil Consumer and Specialty Pharmaceuticals company, to get a five-milligram dose may be getting anywhere from 50 percent to 150 percent of the dose prescribed. This is according to researchers at the Rutgers University School of Pharmacy. Using a tablet splitter and kitchen knives commonly used by patients, three researchers each split 30 tablets, which are not scored, and then weighed the fragments on a special scale.
